Meeting dedicated to June 15 – National Salvation Day (June 14, 2018)
June 15 – National Salvation Day in our independent Azerbaijan is the day when our people has got rid of their difficulties and laid a strong state foundation. June 15 is marked as National Salvation Day by a 1997 parliamentary resolution.
On this occasion, a meeting dedicated to the National Salvation Day was held at the Baku College of Food Industry.
Opening the meeting, Director of Baku College of Food Industry Vilayat Ismayilov said: “June 15 is the day when National Leader Heydar Aliyev was elected Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament. Our people called this history “National Salvation Day”. After Azerbaijan gained independence in October 1991, the country experienced an internal situation and a crisis of power. Arbitrariness reigned in the country; the situation in the army was difficult. Armenian aggression was intensifying day by day. There was a power vacuum in Azerbaijan. . In the Young Republic, there was a struggle between individuals and groups for leadership. In the summer of 1993, there was a threat of civil war in Azerbaijan. In order to get the country out of the difficult situation, a group of intellectuals went to Nakhchivan and invited Heydar Aliyev to return to Baku – to politics. The epic of National Salvation began in the life of Azerbaijan with the coming to power of our national leader on June 15, 1993 at the request and insistence of the absolute majority of our people.

With the return of Heydar Aliyev to the leadership of Azerbaijan in 1993, he made a turn in the socio-political, social, economic, scientific and cultural life of the country, in international relations, and began the process of building an independent state in accordance with scientific principles, international norms and principles. As a result of the urgent measures taken by Heydar Aliyev, on the one hand, important steps were taken to form the National Army, create regular armed forces capable of protecting the national interests of Azerbaijan, to defend our lands, and to use all political and diplomatic means to achieve a ceasefire. As a result, a vital ceasefire was achieved in May 1994. Stepping towards development, our country became a member of international organizations along with other countries. Our tricolour flag was hoisted over international organizations. Continuing the result of Heydar Aliyev’s hard work and policy and foresight, Ilham Aliyev made a successful start in promoting Azerbaijan in the world. As a result of its far-sighted policy, Azerbaijan is currently experiencing a period of strong development. ”
Then Orkhan Suleymanzadeh, deputy director for educational work of the college, Ilgar Zarbaliyev, deputy director for economic affairs, teachers of the college, Firudin Oruj, Akif Karimli, Svetlana Iskanderova, student Ismat Badalov (CM-017) and others spoke about the activities of great leader Heydar Aliyev.
