State Flag Day is celebrated at Baku Food Industry College (10.11.2017)
The event has been opened by Orkhan Suleymanzadeh, Deputy Director for Educational Affairs of the Baku College of Food Industry, who gave a detailed report on the occasion of “November 9 – National Flag Day”.
Then, the director of the Baku College of Food Industry, Doctor of Philosophy Vilayat Ismayilov congratulated the staff on the occasion of “November 9 – State Flag Day” and made a great speech.
Teachers of Baku Food Industry College Khatira Mammadova, Sevinj Sharifova, Firudin Oruj, students Laman Rahimova (group 607), Uliya Samadova (group 621), Javanshir Najafov (group SG 017) and Jeyran Mammadova (AE 017- ci) said poems and made speeches.
Then a video was shown in connection with the “November 9 – National Flag Day”.
The national flag is one of the state symbols of the country. The national flag is as sacred for each of us as the Motherland, the nation and the language. This holiday is solemnly celebrated by our compatriots living in 50 million people all over the world. The flag of each nation is an expression of its national identity, language, culture, religious and moral values, in short, their common national ideology. In this sense, the tricolor flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan today reflects the past, present and future of the Azerbaijani Turkic people. By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan People’s Republic dated November 9, 1918, our state flag was adopted. Our first flag was red. After the occupation on April 28, 1920, our flag moved to the hearts of government agencies. 70 years later, on November 17, 1990, at the session of the Nakhchivan Supreme Assembly chaired by national leader Heydar Aliyev, he played an important role in the adoption of the flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic as the official flag of the Autonomous Republic. Thus, at the request of the people, on February 5, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR was given the status of the State Flag. The ratio of the width to the length of our flag is 1: 2, in the form of a rectangular piece.

When the Republic of Azerbaijan, which regained its independence on October 18, 1991, declared itself the successor of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, it adopted its state symbols, including the state flag. The law on the use of the state flag states that the promotion of the essence and significance of the state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan among the population takes measures to educate the younger generation in the spirit of respect for the state flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan. One of these measures is the establishment of the State Flag Square in Baku by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated November 17, 2007. The height of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan is 162 meters, the only flag in the world that has entered the Guinness Book of Records.
