Eric Maskin, having being in Baku at the invitation of the World Customs Organization, met with UNEC leadership and the academic staff. During the meeting with the rector of UNEC, Professor Adalat Muradov, the guest was thoroughly informed about the university. Speaking about the measures taken to transform UNEC to scientific-research university, the rector said there are about 30 research centers in the university studying the actual problems of various fields of the economy.
Expressing satisfaction with being at UNEC, the Nobel Prize winner highly appreciated the work carried out in the university in the direction of scientific research and emphasized that he could support the university in this field closely.
During the meeting, discussions were held on joint cooperation. An agreement was reached to establish a scientific research center under the leadership of Eric Maskin. At the same time, the sides exchanged views on joint research, organization of conferences and membership of the scientist in the editorial staff of UNEC English-language scientific journal.
Then the Nobel Prize winner met with the academic staff of UNEC. E.Maskin spoke about the fundamentals of the mechanism design theory that led to the Nobel Prize winning. He shared his experiences with UNEC scientists in the direction of winning Nobel Prize.
During the meeting, questions were answered about the impact of globalization on the country’s economy, the importance of business ethics, the policy of protectionism and the key responsibilities of the countries in ensuring the sustainability of economic development.
