The event, which took place at the Baku Crystal Hall, brought together the University’s leadership, faculty members, graduates and their parents, as well as government officials, members of parliament, and representatives of the public.
The official opening ceremony commenced with a tribute to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Subsequently, members of the Academic Council were invited to the stage to the accompaniment of the UNEC Anthem.
In his opening remarks, UNEC Rector Professor Adalat Muradov congratulated the graduates, their parents, and their teachers, emphasizing that Graduation Day does not mark the end of university life but rather the beginning of a new chapter in life. The Rector announced that a total of 6,091 students had graduated from UNEC this year. He noted that the University had equipped its graduates not only with professional knowledge and competencies but also with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, patriotism, and high moral values.
Addressing the graduates, the Rector stated: “Never measure your success solely by your salary. Salaries rise and fall. Companies change, and positions come and go. However, honesty, conscience, trust, and human values remain with you throughout your lifetime.” He further emphasized that these values would remain unchanged even in an era characterized by the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence.
Concluding his address, Professor Muradov recalled President Ilham Aliyev’s statement that “The future of Azerbaijan is in the hands of its youth,” describing these words as the highest expression of the value attached to young people, the confidence placed in them, and the great expectations invested in their future. He expressed his confidence in the graduates and called upon them to uphold the good name and reputation of UNEC at all times.
The honorary guest of the Graduation Ceremony, Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Rafail Huseynov, also congratulated the graduates and underscored the importance of remaining committed to high moral values alongside the pursuit of knowledge in their future lives. He noted that true heroism lies in performing one’s profession conscientiously and in serving one’s country and society. Calling upon young people to become diligent, responsible, and worthy citizens of Azerbaijan, he wished them success in their future endeavors.
During the ceremony, diplomas were presented to 20 graduates of the University’s Internal Dual Degree Programme, as well as to 11 graduates who successfully completed the dual degree programme jointly implemented by UNEC and the University of Montpellier in France.
Subsequently, Turkan Bayramova, a graduate of the International School of Economics (ISE), who achieved the highest undergraduate grade point average (99.7), addressed the audience and expressed her gratitude to her parents, professors, and fellow students for their support throughout her academic journey.
Following the graduates’ oath-taking ceremony, the UNEC flag was ceremonially handed over to the third-year student with the highest academic average.
The Graduation Ceremony continued with the traditional and highly anticipated cap-tossing ceremony, followed by performances by renowned singers and DJs, creating joyful and unforgettable moments for the graduates.
