The participants of the conference organized at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim Universiy at first got acquainted with the photo exhibition, reflecting the genocide.
After the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Turkey had been sounded, the victims of the genocide were commomerated with a minute of silence. The chairman of the UNEC Young Teachers Board Sabuhi Tanriverdiyev spoke about the historical roots of Azerbaijani-armenian, Nagorny Krabakh conflict. The member of the Board Yalchın Kocharli spoke on the topic “Khojaly genocide: the chronology of events”. He justified with the historical facts and principles of international law that the events, had happened in Khocaly were genocide. Another member of UNEC Young Teachers Board Sohrab Isayev spoke about the economic assessment of losses of Azerbaijan in the war with Armenia. The speakers gave the detailed information about the international awareness campaign “Justice for Khojaly!” launched in 2008 on the initiative of the Vice President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. The young teachers of UNEC emphasized that, the international community was indiffierent to this bloody crime, but as usual , Turkey had been near Azerbaijan on the days of Khojaly genocide, as well.
The dean of the Business faculty of Istanbul Zaim University, Dr.Ibrahim Guran Yumushak noted that, the massacre had been not only against Azerbaijan, but also against the whole Turkish world, and spoke about the historical Turkish animosity of armenians.
The teachers and students of Istanbul Zaim University participating in the conference stated that they shared the sorrow of the Azerbaijani people,who had been attacked in Khojaly 26 years ago and they said that this genocide was a grave crime committed against humanity.
