The primary objective of the event was to promote the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan on May 17-22 of this year, as well as to enhance awareness of the forum in Bulgaria, particularly within international academic circles.
In addition to representatives from leading Bulgarian universities, the event was attended by the Vice-Rector for International Relations of UNEC, Huseyn Hasanov, along with members of the university’s academic and administrative staff.
During the presentations, detailed information was provided on the objectives, thematic priorities, and participation opportunities of WUF13. It was noted that the forum, organized by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), serves as a leading global platform that brings together governments, academia, the private sector, local and regional authorities, civil society, and international organizations. The forum promotes the implementation of the New Urban Agenda through evidence-based and human-centered approaches.
Within the framework of the event, opportunities for dialogue with higher education institutions in Bulgaria were discussed, and the role of universities and researchers in shaping a sustainable urban future was emphasized. Furthermore, the importance of expanding cooperation between higher education institutions in Bulgaria and Azerbaijan was highlighted.
In his address, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of UNEC, PhD in Economics Huseyn Hasanov, underlined the significance of the event and emphasized that such initiatives contribute to the advancement of international academic cooperation.
