Born on November 23, 1986, in Dasta village, Ordubad district.
He graduated from secondary school in 2003. From 2003 to 2007, he studied at the Faculty of Physics at Baku State University for his bachelor’s degree and continued his master’s degree at the same faculty from 2008 to 2010.
He served in the military from 2007 to 2008.
After completing military service, he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Institute of Radiation Problems, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), until 2009. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as a thermal energy engineer at Azenco JSC’s Sumgait Technologies Park.
From 2012 to 2015, he pursued full-time postgraduate studies at the Physics Institute of ANAS. In 2018, he defended his dissertation titled “Photoluminescence properties of solid solutions CaxBa1-xGa2S4 activated by rare earth elements (REE=Eu, Er, and Pr)” and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Physics.
From 2012 to 2020, he worked as a junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, and leading researcher at the Physics Institute of ANAS.
From 2016 to 2017, he worked as a senior laboratory assistant, and from 2018 to 2019, as a senior researcher at the National Nuclear Research Center.
Since 2020, he has been a part-time senior lecturer at the “Engineering and Applied Sciences” Department at UNEC.
From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Director of the Laboratory Operations Organization Center at UNEC.
Since 2019, he has been a public-based researcher at the “Composite Materials” Scientific Research Center at UNEC.
In 2023, he became a part-time doctoral candidate at the Institute of Radiation Problems, ANAS, pursuing a doctorate in science.
On November 22, 2024, he was appointed Head of the “Engineering and Applied Sciences” Department.
Dr Naghiyev is the author of more than 70 scientific works, including over 40 articles published in prestigious international journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases, 50 scientific articles, approximately 20 international and national conference materials (most of them abroad), and 8 programs.
He has repeatedly won international and national grant competitions and served as a project leader.
He is the deputy editor-in-chief of the UNEC Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
He is also the deputy editor-in-chief of “Advanced Physical Research,” indexed in the Scopus database.
In 2015, he was awarded the “Best Young Scientist of the Year” prize by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He is married and has two children.
