The staff of the Faculty of Engineering of UNEC visited the grave of Bahruz Mammadov, a graduate who was martyred in the Patriotic War.
Acting dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Associate Professor Elchin Samadov, Associate Professor of the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Mevlud Huseynov, together with the relatives of the martyr, laid wreaths and bouquets of flowers on behalf of the UNEC family in front of his grave in Khaldan village of Yevlakh region, paying tribute to his dear memory.
Then the UNEC team participated in the opening of the memorial fountain created in his name in the village of Dogma.
Bahruz’s guardian and aunt, Rahila Mammadova, met with his uncle Azer Mammadov, and the UNEC team listened to memories about him. His grandmother said that Bahruz lost his parents at a young age and was raised under the care of his grandparents after they died. Mrs. Rahila said that Bahruz, who had a great passion for studies from a young age, studied at school with excellent grades. Behruz said that he is interested in writing poetry and painting, and on the eve of the war, he dedicated most of his poems and paintings to the theme of patriotism.
Associate Professor Elchin Samadov emphasized that the liberation of our lands occupied for more than 30 years in the 44-day Patriotic War, the great victory won was the result of the blood of our martyrs like Bahruz, the bravery of our soldiers and officers, and the consistent policy of our Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev in building the army. Elchin Samadov, who stated that the martyr always stood out among his peers with his education, culture and hard work during his studies at the university, said that he was very interested in Behruz’s specialty. He noted that Bahruz, who knows several languages and studies with good grades, always sits in the front rows of the auditorium and listens to the teachers.
Then, as a memory, Mrs. Rahila was presented with the Honorary Decree of the Student Union Committee of UNEC.
Mammadov Bahruz Tahir oglu was born on September 7, 1991 in Khaldan village of Yevlakh district. Bahruz, who received his secondary education at Khaldan village complex secondary school, passed the exam directly from the 2nd grade to the 4th grade due to his high results. He was awarded the 1st place in the competition of young artists in the Republic, and participated in the Olympiads in his subject. Bahruz, who had a penchant for writing poetry in his school years, was awarded a scholarship named after Shöyubov Zahid for his academic achievements and social activities. An article about B. Mammadov was also published in “Kur” newspaper.
In 2009, after graduating from Khaldan village comprehensive secondary school with excellent grades, he was admitted to the specialty “Expertise and marketing of consumer goods” at the Faculty of Commodities of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) after scoring 571 points. After completing his undergraduate studies in 2013, he continued his studies at the master’s level. Bahruz, who knew several foreign languages and computer programs, was also a skilled artist.
Work is related to English language courses. He spoke English, German, Russian and Polish. In addition to being a polyglot, he also knew the field of information technologies perfectly.
In 2013-2014, he was awarded a letter of “Thank you” by the commander of the military unit while in active military service.
On September 28, 2020, Bahruz Mammadov was called up from the Yevlakh district military commissariat with partial mobilization, and on October 5, he went to the war zone. He participated in the battles in Fuzuli, Khojavand, Hadrut and Gubadli. On November 5, 2020, he was martyred in Dashalti village during the battles for Shusha. Bahruz Mammadov was buried in Khaldan village of Yevlakh district.
He was posthumously awarded the “For the Fatherland”, “For the Liberation of Fuzuli” and “Brave Warrior” medals.
