He was born in Yanigli province of Tovuz region of the Republic of Azerbaijan on April 17, 1957. He graduated from Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1979 (current Azerbaijan University of Languages) and until 1984 he had been working at the Minkend village secondary school of Lachin region and taught French, English Languages.
He had been taking correspondence education on post-graduate degree at Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages in 1984-1988, at the same time he had been working as lector at the university. From 1988 until 1989 he had been working as a translator at the International department of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. From 1990 until 1995 he had been working as lector, then as senior lector at the Azerbaijan State Economic University.
He received the title of a Candidate of Ph. St. after defending his candidacy dissertation in 1991 at the Kiev State University.
N. Nabiyev passed an internship at the Stendhal University of France on “Business French language”.
In 1995-1998, he had been working as translator and assistant for mission leader at “Equilibria” humanitarian organization of the European Union.
As a winner of the competition held by the Development of Agency of the USA in 1998, he was in practice in the USA.
Since 1998 he has been working at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics. He was elected the director of the chair of “Foreign languages-1” in 2000 and occupied the post until 2016.
To ensure the execution of the Decree E.S- 146 signed by the Academic Board of Azerbaijan State University of Economics about the establishment of the Translation Center on 14.07.2016 the Translation Center of UNEC was founded. Najaf Huseyn Nabiyev was appointed the Director of the Translation Center on 19.09.2019 by remaining 0.5 staff Assistant Professor of the Department of “Foreign Languages”.
Currently he is the Director of UNEC’s Translation Center.
He is the author of more than 85 scientific-methodical works.
He is married, and has two children.
