A Malaysian Ambassador at UNEC
Meetings with the representatives of diplomatic missions of Muslim countries within the “Year of Islamic Solidarity” continue at UNEC.
An Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Malaysia to Azerbaijan Dato Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman visited UNEC on April 27. Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov said he was pleased of greeting the guest in the biggest economy-oriented university of Southern Caucasus. Talking about the announcement 0f 2017 the “Year of Islamic Solidarity” in our country, Rector remarked it as a significant event to cause to swell the role of state in promoting tolerance, peace and secular values. He noted the decision on arranging IV Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku in 2017 create favorable conditions for the practical steps taken by our country to strengthen Islamic solidarity.
Rector provided the Ambassador with the information about the history of UNEC, international cooperation, dual diploma programs. He stressed that UNEC is the only university of the country that provide training in four languages and has a branch abroad. Informing the guest about the performance of the Innovative Business Incubator, Rector spoke about the successful start-up projects.
Bringing to attention that Azerbaijan established its diplomatic relations with Malaysia after the restoration of its independence, Ambassador Dato Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman spoke about the successful collaboration between the two countries. He talked about the relationship rising to the level of partnership in line with the sustainable development became extremely portentous since then.
Afterwards, the diplomat met with the students of UNEC. Expressing satisfaction of his visit to UNEC, the Ambassador provided the students with the information about Malaysia. Noting that his country gained its independence in 1957, he stressed that the majority of the population are Muslims. He said Malaysia is a member of the Association of South-Eastern Asian States, highlighting that his country is one of the leading members of the United Nations Organization. The Ambassador made an extensive presentation about the geography, economy, currency, security, technology, education system, tourism opportunities and culture of Malaysia.
The diplomat responded the students’ questions about Malaysia and announced a competition in the end. Students who answered his questions on the presentation were introduced gifts.
