A Conference held at UNEC: “Development of Independent Azerbaijan in Figures”
A scientific-practical conference on “Development of Modern Azerbaijan in Figures” has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on November 24. The event was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of State Independence of Azerbaijan.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov said an appropriate order has been signed by the Education Minister to ensure the execution of the instructions arising from the decree signed by the President Ilham Aliyev in connection with the 25th anniversary of the restoration of State Independence. There are some instructions on the implementation of a series of events in education sector in accordance with the order. Emphasizing that the current conference was held within the same actions plan, Rector had a glance on the country’s development in the last 25 years and spoke about the socio-economic achievements observed within the short period of time.
Deputy Chairman of the State Statistics Committee Yusif Yusifov made a speech on “Development of Independent Azerbaijan in Figures”. The Deputy Chairman of the Committee presented the economic dynamics through 1991- 2015, significant statistic indicators, as well as the sustainable socio-economic development of 10 years in figures.
Y.Yusifov talked about the increase dynamics recorded in science, education, health, culture, sports and other fields.
Director of the Science and Innovations Department of UNEC, Professor Sakit Yagubov paid special attention to the development trend in education within 1991-2016 years in his presentation on “Azerbaijan Education in the Years of Independence”. Speaking about the attention to science and education rendered by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the Center Director stated the steps taken in both direction during the last years in figures.
Rector A.Muradov spoke about some achievements gained by UNEC. He said 70% of MBA learners on the country have chosen UNEC. According to the last observations the indicator has increased 6.2 % in a new academic year. Stating that the average salary paid to academic staff is 981 AZN, Rector noted that the teachers’ earnings would be increased ever more. A.Muradov highlighted that the goal is to improve the quality of education conducted to students by involving more skilled teaching staff to university.
With the aim to deliver the society the achievements gained by the University, Rector noted that a leaflet “UNEC in figures” would be published.
After the speeches first issues of the newly published book entitled “Independent Azerbaijan 25 years” by the State Statistic Committee were presented to UNEC.
The scientific-practical conference was followed with debates.
At the end of the conference the winners of the scientific articles’ competition held within the “Science Month” at UNEC were awarded. The academic staff members were introduced diplomas and certificates.
