A scientific seminar has been held in the Scientific-Research Institute of Economic Studies within the joint competition “Young Scholars and Financial Literacy” by the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Science Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Savings Fund on International Cooperation of Germany.
A senior research fellow of the SRIES Salman Najafov made a presentation on “Debt Problems of the Companies in Azerbaijan: Current Situation and Ways to reduce Debt Burden” within the workshop. Speaking about the debt problems of the companies in the country and the world, S.Najafov noted in his report that the high debt burden of companies limits the regulation function of the Central Bank. He brought to attention that through the reduction of debt burden of companies it is possible to increase the efficiency of monetary policy. Ways to reduce the debt burden of the companies was shown in the seminar and the importance of increasing the role of non-debt financial instruments (shares, trust accounts, project financing) in funding was emphasized.
