The new Project of UNEC: “Reading Time”
A “Reading Time” dedicated to the 93rd Anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Alyev’s Birthday was held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). The goal of the “Reading Time” organized by the School of Finance and Accounting and the Marketing and Communication Department is to increase students’ interest in reading, develop their reading skills and include a book to all fields of our life.
Dean of the School of Finance and Accounting Geray Musayev spoke academic staff and students of UNEC about the care rendered to science, education and book by the Great Leader. Afterwards, informing the participants about the project, the Dean pointed that the discussion of the books would also be organized within the next meetings. Within the discussions the month’s most reading book, interesting and discussed book will be defined and the selected book will be recommended to be read for the next month. In addition, students will make speeches on the book they like. Talking about the advantages of the “Reading Time” Geray Musayev said: “Students with whom we are reading now, can join the “Reading Time” in future. This will help be a means for keeping closer ties between the Faculty and its alumni and feel themselves members of the same team with UNEC. The “Reading Time” will be held once a month and the participation is voluntary. Taking into account the interest in books the kind of meeting are planned to be held weekly in the future”.
Appreciating the event dedicated to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, Head of the Department Finance and Financial Institutions Avaz Alakbarov shared his memories about the Great Leader. Saying “A book should be the best fiend of everyone”, Head of the Department concluded his views with Aristotle’s thoughts: “The difference between the literate and illiterate is the difference between the alive and the dead”. Therefore, try not to put a book aside in all periods of your life. Read and try to set yourself the ability to discuss the books you read. The “Reading Time” will give you this chance. Students will read and discuss their books here together with their professors and instructors.
Afterwards, A.Alakbarov informed the students about the last book he read Alan Greenspan’s “Economic Upheaval” in detail. The Dean Geray Musayev also spoke about the book he read J.G.Wissemann’s “Towards the Third Generation Universities”. Then the participants were reading the books of their own.
