A Student-rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has started a new project. UNEC students will visit Azerbaijan’s historical places and cultural sites with foreign citizens who study at UNEC within the “Walk, See, Know, Share” Project.
Students’ first trip was to the National Museum of Azerbaijan History. Student-rector Shahin Hasanov provided the visitors with the information about the building of museum. The palace was famous entrepreneur and philanthropist Haji Zeynalabidin Taghiyev’s and his family’s residence. The Taghiyev Palace built on the basis of the Chief Architect of that time’s Baku Iosif Vikentyevich Goslavski’s project was constructed in 1895-1901 years. The Baku Merchant Bank headed by Taghiyev since 1914 was situated in this building. The Bolsheviks who seized the power in Azerbaijan in 1920 confiscated Taghyev’s Palace. Taghiyev’s property was entirely given to the Museum of Azerbaijan History. H.Z.Taghiyev’s Memorial Museum was established under the National Museum of Azerbaijan History on the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s initiative.
Students were informed that the National Museum of Azerbaijan History which is one of the biggest museums of Caucasian region has more than 2500 exhibits in collections and funds. They were provided with the information about the historical, great persons of Azerbaijan and ancient monuments. At the same time, they were demonstrated the photos and documents reflecting the atrocities committed by Armenians in Azerbaijan.
The overseas students said they were in detail informed about the Azerbaijan History and exhibits becoming familiar with the exposition of the museum. Sharing with their impressions about the museum, they said: “Today we have witnessed the ancient history of Azerbaijan” and expressed their desire for further excursions.
Trips to the regions of Azerbaijan are planned within the “Walk, See, Know, Share” Project.
