The event, conducted with the participation of staff members of the Faculty of Economics and Management, commenced with the commemoration of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.
In his opening address, Chairman of the territorial party organization for the address Istiqlaliyyat 6 and Vice Rector for Administrative and Organizational Affairs, Associate Professor Shaig Asgarov, underscored that National Revival Day symbolizes the struggle, determination, and will of the Azerbaijani people for independence and freedom. He noted that the nationwide movement which began on 17 November 1988 in Azadlig Square played a pivotal role in the awakening of national self awareness.
Shaig Asgarov stated that the state building and army building policies, together with the legal and political reforms implemented by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, were decisive in strengthening the foundations of the independent Azerbaijani state. He emphasized that the strategic development course defined by Heydar Aliyev continues to constitute the basis of the stable and sustainable development model of the Azerbaijani state.
A video dedicated to National Revival Day and to the legacy of Heydar Aliyev was presented as part of the event.
Chairman of the Labour and Social Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis, Member of Parliament Musa Guliyev, in his remarks, highlighted Heydar Aliyev’s role as a political and ideological leader, noting that his ideas and his activities in the sphere of state building continue to form the foundation of Azerbaijan’s ongoing development. He stressed that reforms undertaken in the socio economic sphere, the preservation of state stability, and the strengthening of social welfare are the continuation of the path established by the National Leader.
Member of Parliament, Professor Hikmat Mammadov, stated that with Heydar Aliyev’s return to leadership, Azerbaijan’s statehood overcame the crisis period and entered a phase of consolidation and reconstruction. He emphasized that the reforms, security measures, and governance initiatives implemented at that time laid the groundwork for the country’s subsequent stability and progress.
Associate Professor Solmaz Gozalova of the UNEC Department of Economics addressed the audience on the political legacy of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the achievements realised under his leadership, and the decisive steps he undertook to restore and safeguard Azerbaijan’s independence.
At the conclusion of the event, membership certificates of the New Azerbaijan Party were presented to UNEC students who had recently been admitted to party membership.
