UNEC’s Teaching Staff has spoken about Garabagh in Texas
On April 7 the Associate Professor of the Department International Economics of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Doctor of Economy Muslim Ibrahimov has spoken about Azerbaijan realities in his next lecture conducted within the Fulbright Program at the West Texas A&M University of the US. He has delivered the information about Armenia Azerbaijan, Daghlig Garabagh conflict, history of the problem and the situation of refugees and internally displaced people in our country. He said that over the past 20 years as a result of complicated political processes taking place in the South Caucasus, Azerbaijanis have been forcefully displaced from their homes for several times and been subjected to ethnic cleansing and deportation. Since the beginning of the nineteenth century as a result of a systematic policy carried out by tsarist Russia, which occupied Caucasus, relocation of Armenians from the neighboring countries’ territories to the territory of Daghlig Garabagh had been performed.
M.Ibrahimov has drawn to attention that 20 percent of our territories – Daghlig Garabagh and 7 administrative districts have been occupied by Armenian armed units as a result of military aggression against Azerbaijan, more than one million people became refugees and internally displaced and our national and cultural wealth, infrastructure have been plundered and destroyed. UNEC’s instructor has also reminded that UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions for the release of the occupied Azerbaijani territories and return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their homes. The aggressive policy of Armenia has been condemned in the resolutions and decisions adopted by OSCE, PACE, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Non- Aligned Movement and other international organizations. Unfortunately, these resolutions still remain on paper. Ignoring the demands of the international community Armenia does not give up its policy.
Speaking about the recent events happening in the front line, M.Ibrahimov has talked about the attacks shelling on civilians by Armenian armed forces and adequate respond by Azerbaijani troops. He has responded more than 100 students’ questions.
M.Ibrahimov’s next lecture was on “Economic Efficiency of Agricultural Production”. UNEC’s teacher has also spoken about the Armenia’s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan during the first few minutes of the lecture.
