A scientific seminar has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). Duties arising from the remarks at an extended meeting chaired by the President Ilham Aliyev dedicated to the results of the socio- economic development of the first quarter of 2016 and the challenges upcoming of the Cabinet of Ministers have been discussed within the workshop attended by scientists and researchers in detail.
It was noted that economic development trends have been registered within 3 months of this year in the country. Despite the decline in the Gross Domestic Product has been observed as a result of lower oil prices on the world market, the fact of increase in the non- oil industry by five percent is a positive indicator.
It was also highlighted that 37 thousand of new jobs during the first quarter and the lower unemployment rate are very positive indicators.
Talking about the current state and trends in the national economy and factors contributing to these trends the employees of the Scientific-Research Institute of Economic Studies of UNEC have made relevant proposals.
The participants of the seminar have shared their views on the ways of promoting development in the country’s economy at the end.
