Projects within the “European Union Horizon-2020” Program was debated at UNEC

A scientific workshop on “Glance to the Business and Management Projects” within the “European Union Horizon 2020” Program was held in the School of Business and Management of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on October 27.

Leading consultant of projects sector of the State Fund on Information Technologies Development under the Ministry of Communication and Higher Technologies Anar Jafarov, Director General of “Business Support Agency LLC” Anar Veliyev, Project Manager of “Business Insight International Research Group” Gulnar Hasanova and the Director of UNEC’s Technology Transfer Center Aydin Huseynov and the academic staff of the university attended the scientific seminar.

The School Dean, Associated Professor Miragha Ahmadov said that the discussions will be made on the projects to be presented to Horizon 2020 Program: “The goal is to ensure sustainability of scientific potential and innovation activities at UNEC, as well as growth of science intensive technologies and increase production in enterprises and application of innovation. The involvement of other sources in addition to the resources of the state budget in financing of the science will stimulate the scientists.”

A.Veliyev provided detailed information about the “Horizon 2020” program: “Financing of which about 80 billion Euros over seven years, the Horizon 2020 ” is the largest research and innovation program in the European Union. The program is open to everyone and has a simple structure. This is one of its advantages. “

A.Jafarov noted UNEC’s teachers and students became winners of the grand competition of the State Fund for Development of Information Technology under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies: “It shows that UNEC has enough potential for research. It is possible to win the project using the potential of the European Union within the framework of Horizon 2020.

A.Huseynov said that the Technology Transfer Center received project proposals. He recommended the scientists to make suggestions for coordination and support activities: “This type of projects does not include real research. The representatives of participant countries communicate taking part in conferences in the fields; determine the potential of each area. Moreover, the calls for joint research projects with European partners are also planned.”

Huseynov said that appropriate proposals should be prepared on directions after the project calls are being elected. The director of the center stressed the importance of creating interdepartmental creative groups at UNEC for coordination of the European level of the proposals in the areas. Also, he suggested translating the proposals into English in the newly created UNEC Translation Centre.

The next stage is the selection of partners and in accordance with the consortia connecting Europe, the CIS countries (Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia) scientists working in the same direction and establish close relationship that goal. It was said that the cooperation would pave the way for the victory of the project.
