The Council of Young Scientists of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) held a workshop at the School of International Economic Relations on November 18. Deputy Head of the Department for Analytic Investigations of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Political Sciences Hatem Jabbarli made an extensive report on Armenia’s foreign policy and security issue. Speaking about the factors of forming the Armenia’s foreign policy H. Jabbarli mentioned the Armenian national identity, culture, eastern Christianity, geopolitical position, geographical factors, boundaries and integrity. The reporter talked about the width of borders and strategic resources, human factors, the establishment, economic structure and properties of Armenian army. Commenting on the notion of security of Armenia’s international policy H. Jabbarli has classified the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, problems of Georgia related with Abkhazia, Ajarstan and the Southern Ossetia, the region countries’ relations with Russia, military control, weapons smuggling and security, the border surveillance in the Black Sea, the legal status of the Caspian Sea, oil pipeline security, political integrity of the region and the prospects for cooperation and the existence of about two millions of refugees as the problems of the region. The reporter estimated the Armenian military policy in the region based on scientific factors.
The scientific workshop went on with the academic and student staffs’ discussions.
