General Information. In order to cover the activities of the university in the media, to ensure transparency the department provides information about the work done at the university to the public, prepares  press releases, newsletters, statements, interviews, speeches, etc. It participates in the preparation of normative acts and organizational regulatory documents in the field of public relations. The activity of the department includes, if necessary, preparing a response to untrue information published in the media about the university’s activities and taking measures to eliminate distortions. At the same time, the department organizes the participation of media representatives in university events, ensures daily monitoring of materials published in the media related to the university’s activities and informing the management about it.

The department participates in considering the applications and inquiries received from citizens, state bodies, administrations, enterprises and organizations in accordance with the legislation. The department represents the university in commissions, working groups, and various level local and international events held in the university and other state institutions, and participate in their work.

The department organizes and regulates work in the field of establishing relations with the mass media and informing the public about the activities of the higher educational institution. The activities of the department include press conferences, briefings, receptions, monitoring the activities of the press, informing the employees of the university about the information published or disseminated by the local and foreign media about the activities of the university, organizing conferences and symposia. The organization of cultural events, a series of activities aimed at increasing the reputation of the university are also included in the authority of the structural department. The department also prepares information for the official website of the university.

The department participates in exhibitions, holds meetings in high schools and preparatory courses and organizes visit programs in order to provide information about the university and its structures to applicants and students. It prepares bulletins and news announcements in order to inform the public and employees about the events of the university. Prepares catalogs, brochures and promotional videos used to promote the university, provides consulting services to people from outside the country who want to get information about the university, and introduces the university to visiting guests.

Hotline service. The “Hotline” of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics started operating on May 12, 2014. The main goal of creating a “hotline” is to ensure transparency in the educational process. To contact the “Hotline” you can report your questions, complaints and suggestions about the university by dialing 146-1-3 (492-59-03). Incoming applications are responded to promptly, and applications requiring analysis are investigated and directed to the relevant structures of the university. 

The Public Relations department and the Digital Media department were previously part of the Marketing and Communications department, which was established in 2014. Since December 2023, it has been merged with the Digital Media department and operates as an independent department.

Official website of UNEC. In May 2015, Azerbaijan State University of Economics carried out further innovations in the direction of innovation and presented the new official website of the university – unec.edu.az. In May 2015, Azerbaijan State University of Economics presented the new official website of the university – unec.edu.az. The site was developed on the basis of an improved format that meets modern requirements and is enriched with new features. Modern web design components have been used on the site so that users can quickly get the necessary information. Within the framework of rebranding, the presentation of the university’s official website, which meets modern requirements, has been improved and enriched with new opportunities. UNEC (University of Economy) is also reflected in the site’s domain name. Modern web design components were used for users to quickly obtain the necessary information on the unec.edu.az website. The site, which is presented in three languages, uses the latest technical and software innovations. In 2016, as an addition to the site, a mobile application for iOS and Android platforms was also presented to users.

Since 2018, the news.unec.edu.az site, which mainly consists of the news and announcements section, has been created.

Vusala Mammadova was the head of the department until September 2018.

From September 2018 to May 2019, the department was headed by Javid Khalilov.

Currently, the department is headed by Elnara Mammadova.
