The Republic Day May the 28th is celebrated at UNEC
Event dedicated to Republic Day May the 28th has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on May 26.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov said that the first democratic republic in the East Azerbaijan has gained its independence twice in a century and gained a chance to create its own sovereign state. Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established in 1918 led a life for only 21 months, but it was very dignified and sophisticated way. History has repeatedly proved that to preserve the independence is much harder than to win it. After the National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s return to power for the second time, the state independence has been preserved and further strengthened and the civil war was averted, the economy embarked on the path of development from a severe crisis. Now, we are strengthening the political and economic mainstays of our independence. The main factors that determine the fate of independence are maintained and developed. Today Azerbaijan has become one of the most powerful countries in the world both politically and economically. Our country has a leading position not only in the region but also in the world for the economic growth rate.
Rector said that the teaching staff has a great responsibility in eternity of our country’s independence. We have to cultivate educated and competent personnel who can be the providers of independence.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Associations and Religious Organizations, Member of Milli Majlis Siyavush Novruzov spoke about the National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s unprecedented role in the formation of the state independence, development and recognition in the world. He said even though Azerbaijan regained its independence again, the chaos, outrage lasting in the country and frequent changes of government endangered our independence. If the National Leader Heydar Aliyev had not returned to power in 1993 at the people’s insistence and demand, today we would not have spoken about Azerbaijan’s independence. Speaking about the Great Leader’s historical contributions, Member of Parliament drew to attention that this policy is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
Professor of the Department “History of Azerbaijan” Vakil Hasanov made a presentation on the topic “First Democratic Republic in the Muslim East”.
At the end of the event, students of SABAH Groups sounded the poems “Azerbaijan Flag” and “Rise Azerbaijan”.
