Public control is provided in examination session of UNEC
The next stage of spring exam session of 2015/2016 academic year was held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
Members of UNEC’s Public Control Board revealed their opinions on the execution and progress of the exam session.
A Deputy Senior Director of the News Agency “Trend” Arzu Naghiyev evaluated the creation of “UNEC’s Public Control Board” to ensure the objectivity of the assessment of students’ knowledge as a positive case: “I suppose it should be applied in other higher education institutions as a pilot project, too. The application of the project will prevent the negative opinion appeared in public. Members of the Board are the well-known public representatives and leaders of media. They will deliver proper information about the progress, and results of the exams to public. The objectivity will be provided fully”.
Honorary Scientist, Professor Shahlar Asgerov: “The creation of UNEC’s Public Control Board is the innovation for Azerbaijan education. The main aim is to conduct monitoring of the session, to hear the parents’, public, media and NGO members’ complaints and proposals on the results of the exams and meeting them. Two main issues are the obligations of education: transferring the knowledge and its assessment. The assessment of knowledge is a very necessary and controversial issue. Opinions on the availability of shortcomings in assessment always exist. But the “Public control Board of UNEC” can put an end to all these rumors. I welcome the creation of the Board”.
Delivering the information about the process of exam, Sh.Asgerov they are organized at UNEC in the highest level: “I followed the exams together with the members of the Board. I was generally satisfied with the situation. All conditions are created for the students to demonstrate their knowledge”.
Executive Director of the Information Agency “Ses” (Voice) Veli Veliyev stressed that he did not face any negative case within the process.
There were 5 calls on 146-1-3 Hotline service during the monitoring and none of them were related with the session.
Note that, the Board members will also monitor the exams to be held at Financial College performing under UNEC.
