New proposals for the majors of Economics and Management are being developed
To implement the Actions Plan of the Ministry of Education on “The Development of State Standard and Curriculum for Every Level of Higher Education” a Working Group has been established. UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov was appointed a Chairman of the Working Group on “economics and Management”.
Meeting with the members of the Working Group was held on April 27 at UNEC. Representatives of Baku State University, State Academy of Administration, Baku University of Engineering, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, as well as the state and private bodies took part in the discussions.
UNEC’s Rector, Professor Adalat Murdadov that the rules in connection with the adaptation of the undergraduate studies of the country’s higher education institutions to the Western standards are being prepared. The new standards make it necessary to increase student mobility, recognition of dual diplomas and development of the majors compatible the requirements of market economy. Rector drew to the attention of the Working Group that the list of majors on Economics and Management was reconsidered.
The Working Group made proposals on the development of new rules. Within the debates, it was suggested to combine the majors of World Economy, “Commerce, Organization and Administration of Industry under the title of Economics and to reduce the number of specialties from 12 to 9. Agreement on identification of the disciplines on Economics maximally and development of guidelines in this area was achieved. It was said, besides enabling the student to receive a diploma on two specialties, the new regulations forms the additional financial source in the university. At the same time, it increases the attractiveness of higher education institution and creates an incentive for students to receive a better education. Proposals on establishing a national credit system and reducing the disciplines to a minimum were also sounded.
Relevant regulations will be developed on the basis of the Working Group’s proposals and submitted to the Ministry of Education.
