Presentation of a book “Resource on Scientometrics: Development Indicators of Science and Technologies” has taken place at UNEC within the international scientific-practical conference on “Modern Management Model of Scientific Activity at Universities” organized with support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters) and the International Science and Technological Information Center.
The employees of the Scientific-research Institute of Economic Studies under UNEC translated the book. Scientific editors of the book are UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov and the Director of the Scientific-research Institute of Economic Studies under UNEC, Professor Yadulla Hasanli.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov, Global Director on Developing Countries Vidji Krishnan, Director of the Scientific Research and Intellectual Property Department of “Clarivate Analytics” on CIS Oleg Utkin and the academic staff of the university attended the event.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov said scientific research is the foundation of the university that can meet global criteria. He spoke about the novelties conducted in this field. He pointed that research-oriented centers such as European Economy, Islamic Economy, Digital Marketing and the Exporters Support Center have been established at the university. Our aim is to engage every scholar in research field he wants to run. Rector delivered the information about the virtual economic forum “DISKURS.AZ”. He mentioned about the international TEDx project which provide discussion of scientific investigations and the conference “Science Slam” held at UNEC for the first time to involve students in scientific research. He brought to attention that 40% of places were allocated to scientific research in the intellectual property of UNEC the Differential Salary System. He said the number of scientific articles published by the employees of the university have been increased 4.4 times after the application of the system.
A.Muradov highlighted the significance of translation of the books into Azerbaijani related with scientific research in terms of stimulation of the science. He said the book “Resource on Scientometrics: Development Indicators of Science and Technologies” is the indicator of this ambition. I am sure that the valuable ideas reflected in the book will be studied by the university staff.
Expressing satisfaction of her visit to UNEC V. Krishnan noted that UNEC plays a significant role on the way leading to innovations in the country. Ms. V.Krishnan delivered the information about the performances of the institution she runs, work done and research conducted. She pointed that they are in close relation with the Ministry of Education, Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences and higher education institutions. She invited UNEC to take part in the “Doctor Garfield Scholarship Program” established in Eugene Garfield’s honor who was the founder of bibliometrics.
O.Utkin noted that UNEC is a reliable partner which takes active part in “Thomson Reuters’” Projects. He expressed gratitude to university administration for their assistance in translating and publishing the book. He said the book is translated in CIS country for the first time.
Director of the SRIES, Professor Yadulla Hasanli provided the participants with the information about the book “Resource on Scientometrics: Development Indicators of Science and Technologies”. He said the knowledge about scientometrics is systemized in the book. The book is a detailed review of a series of modern methods and tools of the evaluation and monitoring of scientific research and technologies. Resource on scientometrics meets the growing interest of science and education institutions in scientometric methods and analysis. Examples given in the book show the relationship among the theoretical investigations in the field of measuring application aspects with science and technologies.
The book “Resource on Scientometrics: Development Indicators of Science and Technologies” will be presented as a gift to the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, higher education institutions and scientific libraries.
Questions related with the book “Resource on Scientometrics: Development Indicators of Science and Technologies” were answered after speeches.
Seminar-training on “Web of Science” Certification Program and trainings on “The rules to use Web of Science database and perform operations” were held at UNEC within the conference. Official opening of the conference will take place on June 14.
