An international seminar devoted to future perspectives on energy economy and green transition was held at UNEC

An international seminar entitled “Future Perspectives on Energy Economy and Green Transition and Adaptation to Climate Change” was held under the joint organization of UNEC, Black Sea Sustainable Development Solutions and Black Sea Universities networks.

The guests from Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and Ukraine, who were participants of the event, first got acquainted with the infrastructure of UNEC.

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, vice-rector for science associate professor Fariz Ahmadov welcomed the participants, talked about the relevance of the topic and informed about the program of the event.

Vice-rector for international relations and programs Neman Muradli spoke about the international projects implemented by UNEC.

The seminar continued with discussions devoted to energy economy priorities, climate change, transition to a green economy, green energy and sustainability in the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (CSECO) in addition to Azerbaijan.

Dr. Grigoris Zarotiadis and Nicolas Moussiopoulos, professors of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, Greece, discussed modern and future problems in the energy economy, Sofia University, Bulgaria, professor Dr. Marina Stefanova on an active approach to the green transition and the involvement of stakeholders, Tamer Atabart, professor of Boğaziçi University, Turkey, on the role of Turkey in the balanced and smart energy transition between Asia and Europe, Nargiz Hajiyeva, head of the UNEC department, young researcher, on the evaluation of green energy initiatives in the Karabakh region, the International Cooperation Department director Narmin Ibrahimova informed the seminar participants about the Erasmus+ REFRESH (Improving Green and Sustainable Global Economy in Azerbaijan Universities: Renewable Energy and Climate Change Mitigation) project won by UNEC. Ambassador Michael Kristides, former Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization, Nikos Theodossiou, Secretary of the Black Sea Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Sergey Byelikov, Professor of the Zaporizhia National Technical University of Ukraine, Michael Musov, Vice-Rector of the Bulgarian National University, Marta García-Haro, Secretary of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, made presentations on scientific research priorities in economics.
