Meeting with the Financial Monitoring Service under the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Vice- rector of Azerbaijan State University of Economics Azizov A.I., Head of the Department “Banking”, Professor Z.F.Mammadov and the employees of the Department Associate Professor Z.H.Ibrahimov, Prof. M.Baghirov and Associate Professor Z.H.Zeynalov met with the Director of the Financial Monitoring Service under the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan Adishirin Gasimov.
The meeting aims to educate the public about the measures taken by our country against money laundering and financing terrorism and the requirements of the banking sector in this field as well as exchange of views on the training of professionals in the field of financial control through the development of cooperation between the two institutions.
In the end of the meeting the parties achieved agreement on further cooperation.
The Financial Monitoring Service under the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan has begun to perform since 2009. The main functions of the Service are obtaining the information about the financial operations from monitoring entities, including banks; examine the reports whether there are signs of money laundering or financing terrorism and transfer of data on the country’s law enforcement agencies. Over the past period, along with the basic features of the service, a wide range of measures to educate the public and monitoring entities on money laundering and financing of terrorism, especially in the financial and banking sector has been provided.
