The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will implement the Knowledge Co-Creation Program for Azerbaijan called “Global Leader on SDG (YMI 2024-2026)”.
The program gives young people the opportunity to get higher education in various fields at Japanese universities. The purpose of the program is to support people from developing countries to build their own networks by offering opportunities to study at Japanese higher education institutions.
JICA offers 2 years for the master’s program and 3 years for the Ph.D. (It depends on the program offered by the universities).
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Should be junior or mid-career civil servants, promising academics or employees of private institutions who are expected to contribute to policy formulation or implementation to address sustainable development issues in relevant fields.
- For Masters programs, the candidate must be 35 years old or below by April 1, 2024. However, under certain circumstances considered, candidates over 35 may also be accepted;
- For the PhD program, the candidate must be 40 or younger by April 1, 2024. However, in some considered cases, candidates over 40 years of age may also be accepted;
- To apply for master’s programs, you must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree;
- To apply for the PhD program, you must have a master’s degree.
- Language: must have adequate English language skills in both written and oral communication (TOEFL iBT: 80, IELTS: 6.5) to complete the Master’s and/or Ph.D.
- Must physically come to Japan to conduct research activities to complete this program.
- Must not receive or plan to receive another scholarship during the program.
Those who are interested in the program should submit their electronic application forms to the Azerbaijan Correspondent Office of JICA by October 14, 2023. Questions about filling out the application can be addressed to that office.
Selection of the proposed universities will be made based on the applications approved by JICA Candidates will be informed about the result.
