The UNEC 24/7 library, which is for the first time in the country open 24 hours, hosts about 500 students a day
The plot, which was posted on the Education TV on the launch of the 24/7 library at UNEC for the first time in the country caused the great interest.
It is noted in the plot that, the UNEC 24/7 library, which operates 24 hours and 7 days for the first time in the country, is equipped with lighting and ventilation system meeting the modern standards, modern software programs, high speed fiber optic internet line, and the most up-to-date computers.
The library, which is visited by up to 500 readers on the daily basis, can render the services to 104 readers at the same time. At the late hours, about 70 students prepare for the winter examinations here.
On the II and III floors of the 3 storeyed library are operating the specialized, shelf racking style design reading rooms with wide range of foundation. Here is possible to access to the electronic resources of the famous libraries, including “Oxford University”, “Cambridge University”, “The MIT”, and “Duke University”, ECONBIZ, JSTOR, “Duke University Press” and EBSCO databases.
The students will be able to use the electronic database of the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov, which is consisted of 60 thousand books, 140 thousand newspapers and magazines, and 15 thousand dissertations, as well.
The users also can have access to the database of the “Web of Science” platform, which is consisted of 126 626 articles. The library, which is able to render the services to 104 students at the same time, will provide access to more than 760,000 electronic resources in general.
According to the students, in the UNEC 24/7 library they can find the resource they search, for short period of time and easily. Here, along with the Azerbaijani language, it is possible to get acquainted with the course-books in English, Russian and Turkish languages. By accessing the international scientific databases, the students can get acquainted with materials located in different parts of the world.
And these days, the library has been enriched with the widely used in the world, such books as the “International Economics: Theory and Politics” (by P.R.Krugman, M.Obstfeld və M.J.Melitz), “Macroeconomics” (by O.Blanshar) and “Fundamentals of Microeconomics” (by K.E.Keys, R.J.Feyr və Sh.E.Oster). These books had been translated into Azerbaijani language with the participation of the UNEC experts and support of the company “BP”.
