UNEC is selected the Pilot University
New standards and guidelines for quality assurance in higher education system of Azerbaijan have been confirmed. The new accreditation rules implemented by the financial support of the European Union were developed within the Twinning Project “To support the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the aim to adapt the Higher Education System to the requirements of the European Higher Education Area”.
With the introduction of new accreditation rules UNEC was selected one of the pilot universities. To this end, Head of the Accreditation Department of Accreditation and Recognition Office of the Ministry of Education Tofig Ahmadov and Education Experts of Finland and Estonia who implement the project visited UNEC.
Saying “We are targeted in existing among the world class universities”, UNEC Rector, Professor A.Muradov delivered the information about the university, innovations realized in the direction of improving the quality of education and affairs done in expanding the international cooperation within the meeting with the experts. He said selection of UNEC as a pilot university would further serve to increase the quality of education. A.Muradovsaid the expert would have got a chance of using all the opportunities to conduct the assessment related with the application of the project.
Providing the participants with the detailed information about the project, specialists said the aim is to adjust the strategic planning of the university, management, human resources, curricula, research, as well as teaching and training resources and support services in the European standards.
Then self-assessment report prepared by the Working Group was introduced to the experts. It was said self-assessment is an important part of the evaluation process in general and the report was adapted to the structure of evaluation areas. At the same time, the analytical directions were developed and the fields to improve were defined.
The assessment of the project was said to be conducted in four stages: appointment and training of the international assessment group, conduct of self-assessment by the university, trip to higher education institution and publication of the report. Evaluation will be carried out by the group consisting of the international and domestic experts.
Experts’ visit to UNEC will be organized within the project. They will look through the self- assessment report and observe the process of the evaluation of quality assurance.
