Execution of the IDDP starts at UNEC. The program to be initially opened in the International School of Economics will start from the 2017-2018 academic year. Taking into account students’ interest in the IDDP, we introduce the answers to the frequently asked questions (FAQ):
What is IDDP?
The Internal Dual Diploma Program is a unique advantage for the undergraduate students within their studies. Possessing two diplomas in different majors within 4 years, student will have an opportunity to occupy a decent place in the labour market and flexibly adapt to its requirements.
IDDP’s purpose
The purpose of the Program is to fulfil the requirements arising from the “State Strategy for the Development of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan” and to train students who succeed in undergraduate level of their studies as successful competitors by acquiring additional education in the second specialty.
Opening of the Program
At least 70 per cent of the disciplines and credits allocated to them in the curriculum of those specialties should be the same for the opening of the UDID program in two specialties. The list of the majors the IDDP is applied approved by the decision of UNEC’s Academic Board.
Admission to the IDDP
Admission plan, the programs’ curriculum and registration dates will be announced to students a month before the start of the academic year in the faculties where the IDDP is open. The admission plan of the program should not exceed 20% of the admission to this major in this year. Student may apply for the IDDP, the most common, in the third term or at the latest in the beginning of the fifth term.
Who may apply to the IDDP?
Undergraduate students who complete I year of their studies, earn credits on subjects intended by the first specialization during the study period and become successful in 81-100 points will be able to appeal for the IDDP. They should submit a written application to the rector of the university three weeks before the start of the semester. Two weeks prior to the beginning of the start of the term, the applications are evaluated by admission commission in accordance with the rules for admission and the list of the students admitted to the program is announced.
How is the IDDP applied?
The students who are enrolled in the UDID program are trained in special education schedules, evaluating the syllabuses of the subjects, the educational standards, curricula, the knowledge, skills and habits required by the graduates of the specialty. Individual curricula are drawn up before the start of the semester with the help of academic advisors for each student, on the basis of these schedules, in which all the disciplines required for the student to be trained in both the first and the second qualifications are mentioned.
Is the IDDP charged?
Admission to the IDDP is paid. The amount of the tuition fee on the second major is defined in accordance with the number of credits on that major.
Is it possible to collect credits in another university?
Students who attend the IDDP should collect the credits on the second major only at UNEC. The student repeats the subject that is unsuccessful in the UDID Program during the first semester of this subject. The student may choose a new subject instead of the elective subject, with the help of an academic advisor. The UDID student may also attend the summer semester.
Is the IDDP student eligible for the exchange program?
Students participating in the UDID program can participate in all exchange programs proposed for UNEC students, even if the indicators match. Students admitted to the main program of specialization are considered as academic leavers for the UDID program.
Scholarship in the IDDP
Student who studies on the IDDP cannot compete for the scholarship on the second major.
Internship within the IDDP
In the case of two specializations in the UDID program, equivalent internships are organized in both disciplines.
Graduation from the IDDP
The 1st and 2nd specialty programs of the student’s qualification are evaluated separately. The results of the UDID program do not affect the student’s graduation from I specialty. A graduate of I specialty is awarded a bachelor’s degree on specialty. The Bachelor’s Degree in the UDID Program is awarded to a student who graduated from the main qualification program and completes the general average achievement indicator (UOMG) with 71 points or more. A student who cannot graduate from the main qualification program cannot be a graduate of the UDID program. Students who have graduated from the main qualification program, but who cannot complete the UDID program, will have an additional period of up to two semesters to finish the program.
The participant of the UDID Program is obliged to pass the Final State Attestation both in I and II qualifications. Students who successfully complete the credits of the courses offered by the UDID Program are issued with the final state certification of the 2nd qualification only after successfully completing the final state attestation of the specialty. UDID graduates are given separate academic transcript for I and II specialty programs.
Is it possible to leave the IDDP?
The student may withdraw from the UDID program at his own discretion. During the education period, students are allowed to decrease the overall average achievement indicator for the main specialty program to 65 pupils only once. A student who drops below 65 points for a secondary general education program is dismissed from the UDID program for the second time. The student, who has not been registered for two consecutive semesters for a reasoned reason, is excluded from the program. Students who cannot complete the UDID program at the end of the two semesters added after graduation from the main qualification program are excluded from the program. Student removed from UDID program cannot be re-admitted to this program
