Doctor of Economic sciences, prof. Abbasov Gazanfar Ali
He was born on May 25, 1938 in Garamammadli village of Yevlakh region.
In 1965 he graduated from Azerbaijan State University named after S.M. Kirov.
From 1954 to 1967 he worked as an accountant and chief accountant in various state enterprises and organizations.
From March 1967 to the present, he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor, professor at the “Accounting” department of the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy (now the Azerbaijan State University of Economics).
In 1981, he entered the Leningrad Institute of Commerce by correspondence.
In 1984, he defended his thesis at the Voznesensky Institute of Financial Economics and received a PhD in economics.
In 1986, he was elected associate professor, and in 1994-2000, he was elected head of the department.

From 2000 to 2008 he was an assciate professor of the department, and in 2008 he defended his doctoral dissertation and received the degree of Doctor of Economics. In 2009 he was elected a professor of the department.
He is a consultant professor at the Department of Accounting and Auditing, UNEC.
He is the author of 12 textbooks, 4 monographs, 8 scientific-methodical aids, 395 scientific articles.
Since 1993, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Finance and Accounting journal.
According to the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated September 24, 2020, he was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Teacher” on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics and for his services to the development of education in Azerbaijan.
Married, has three children and grandchildren.
