About library

Being one of the leading structural departments of the UNEC, the Major Library is the center providing educational and scientific-research process with educational, scientific, methodical literature and information materials, as well the center distributing spiritual and intellectual connections and promoting knowledge.

UNEC library has been operating since 1930.

The following departments are operating under the library:

Service department;
Acquisition and Catalogue department;
Bibliography ;
Reading hall.

Beside the major library there is a reading hall at the 1 academic building and the libraries with the rich book fund at the 2, 3 and 4 academic buildings and reading halls.

Our rich library which has in general about 250000 books, leaflets, journals, newspapers, syllabuses, synopses, microfilms and other education-information resources is currently one of the main centers applied by not only interuniversity users but also the outside users majoring in economics.

Written, audio, video education-information resources in Azerbaijani, Russian, Turkish and English are also available to be obtained at the library network. The library enriches its fund with published monographs, textbooks, training aids, methodological instructions and provides the readers with periodic media materials. Overdue books which do not meet the modern requirements are being replaced with new ones.

In addition, the e-library is also performing in our university which creates the opportunities of access to information resources of academic and practical character for the teaching and students staffs of the university. Fully equipped electronic library provides the opportunity of electronic catalogue system, free access to Internet resources and to read e-books that are in the internal data base directly on the computer.

Establish the UNEC Library Information Center on the basis of the Fundamental Library abolished on 15.04.2019.

Purpose

Operating following the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law “On Education” of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Law “On Library”, state and governmental documents, the Orders, Decrees and regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education, the orders and decrees of the UNEC, as well as the Statute of the Library;
Providing librarian, informational-bibliography service according to the demands and requirements of students, post-graduates, bachelor’s, master, doctorate, scientific workers, professor-teacher, engineer-technical staff and readers from the other categories of the university;
Formulating library fund according to profile of the university and the requirements of the readers, transformation to the information technology along with the traditional printing products, establishing and improving the informational-bibliography apparatus;
Along with the training information culture, developing readers’ ability of using information-reference apparatus of the library and new information technology;
Connecting the activity of library with the chairs of the University, scientific society and social organizations;
Mechanize the bibliography and information process through using modern technical facilities in library works, expanding the library service via automation and computerizing, and strengthening logistic database of library applying own elements;
Fostering a sense of patriotism to the readers, humanize the libraries, guiding with universal merits, propagating and disclosing scientific, cultural, spiritual heritage collected in the funds, providing readers with the literature according to their information requirements;
Formulating library fund according to profile of the university and the requirements of the readers, transformation to the information technology along with the traditional printing products, establishing and improving the informational-bibliography apparatus;
Along with the training information culture, developing readers’ ability of using information-reference apparatus of the library and new information technology;
Developing and implementing the program for the specialty of resources working with new technology;
Comprehensive democratization of library service;
Providing free library service for readers;
Taking mutual advantage from library funds through interlibrary and international subscription;
Library fund is taught according to appropriate guidelines and its protection is provide according to their account, protection, rehabilitation and sanitarian-hygienic norms;

Rights

Representing in scientific conferences, workshops and meetings related with library and information works;
Library expenditures should be considered within the general budget of the university;
The place of university’s library is untouchable;
The director and library employees carry out responsibility on the protection of library fund according to the existing legislation;
