On October 12, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Yıldız Technical University, AETN Institute of Management Systems and the International Technical Strategic Management and Managers Association, it was jointly organized by the initiative of the Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology Committee of the Milli Majlis. The international scientific-practical conference on “Green economy and the road to ecological imperatives: new challenges, opportunities and perspectives” has started its work.

At the opening of the event, Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev, Rector of UNEC Professor Adalat Muradov, Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev, Vice President of BP Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Turkey Prof. Dr. Lüftihak Alpkan, the co-chairman of the International Conference on Leadership, Technology, Innovation and Management Professor Cemal Zehir, other state officials, heads of scientific and educational institutions, representatives participated.

Before the opening of the international conference, the guests visited the “Ecological” food, “Green” book, “Green” clothing and fashion, and “Green technology” exhibition, which consists of handicrafts of UNEC students, as well as the “green” economy and ecology in the Library Information Center’s collection. they got acquainted with the books.

Rector of UNEC Professor Adalat Muradov pointed out that one of the most important tasks facing Azerbaijan in the National Priorities for socio-economic development defined by President Ilham Aliyev is to become a clean environment and “green growth” country, and said that scientific and educational institutions have important tasks in this direction. He expressed confidence that the discussions and results of the 3-day conference will have an important impact on economic growth, increasing economic sustainability and further strengthening the existing positions in the international world. The Rector also talked about the work done in connection with the “green economy” at UNEC, which aims to transition to a “green university” by 2030. For the first time, he emphasized that a master’s degree program on the specialty “green economy” will be prepared.

Sadiq Gurbanov, chairman of the Natural resources, energy and ecology committee of the Milli Majlis, spoke about the negative effects of global climate changes on the economy of countries, the environment, as well as global food security and regional security systems. He said that the transition to a green economy currently presents the whole world with urgent challenges.

Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev drew attention to the relevance of the topic of the conference and pointed out that the interest in the training of specialists in technical and technological fields, especially engineering specialties, is growing in the country. The minister emphasized the importance of conducting research on green economy and ecologically clean environment in science and educational centers.

Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev spoke about the impact of the rapid development of the economy on the ecological environment and said that this field is faced with global challenges. The minister spoke about the importance of expanding the use of alternative energy sources and efficient use of natural resources. He also spoke about the reforms carried out in the direction of the introduction of renewable energy in the territories freed from occupation within the framework of the Great Return.

Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev stated that renewable energy sources are a strategic priority in the country’s development, and spoke about the works carried out in the direction of the implementation of wind and solar energy in the country, as well as the projects implemented by Azerbaijan as a “green growth” country, producer and exporter of “green” energy.

Speaking at the event, Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, BP’s Vice President for External Relations and Communications in the Caspian Region, Soltan Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Turkey, Professor Lütfihak Alpkan, ASELSAN’s Vice President for Corporate Governance Professor Hakan Karataş, Turkish Labor and the deputy minister of social protection of the population, co-chairman of the conference, Prof.Dr. Cemal Zehir and other speakers shared their views on ensuring sustainable development based on the principles of “Green Economy”, environmental health, rapid restoration and increase of greenery, efficient use of water resources and sustainable energy sources, and said that the results obtained at the conference will be important in this direction.

Then, plaques were presented to the participants of the conference.

The international conference moderated by Professor Zahid Mammadov, UNEC department director, focused on economic policy, “green” economy, “green” education and “green” university, policy on natural resources management, sustainable development, environment of economic and demographic growth. continued with discussions on the impact on the environment, efficient use of water resources, use of alternative and renewable energy sources, application of “green” technologies, use of “green” vehicles, “green” finance, “green” economic potential of the liberated territories.
