The UNEC team visited the family of the Khojaly martyr
Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting Associate Professor Hafiz Hajiyev, Deputy Dean Assistant Professor Azer Garayev, Chairman of the UNEC Student Trade Union Committee Ilkan Aliyev visited the family of Firdovsi Valiyev, a graduate of UNEC, who was martyred during the Khojaly massacre.
Valiyev Firdovsi was born on August 15, 1966 in Shelli village of Agdam region. In 1973-1983, he studied at the Shelli village secondary school of Aghdam district. In 1983, he was admitted to the correspondence department of the Accounting Faculty of the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy (now UNEC). He served in the military in 1985-1987 and graduated from the university in 1990. Since 1990, he has been working as an accountant in the Union of Urban Consumer Societies in Aghdam region. During the period of his work, he gained the respect and sympathy of the entire team. In 1991, he was the first volunteer from the village of Shelli, Aghdam region, to join the volunteer battalion created by Shirin Mirzayev. In 1992, he heroically participated in the battles of Childiran, Garakend, Nakhchivanik, Askaran, Garagaya. On the day of the Khojaly tragedy, he was besieged in Garagaya, which is near the village of Shelli, and rescued the Khojaly people together with his comrades.
He was martyred on February 26, 1992 as a result of enemy fire.3
For his bravery, he was posthumously awarded the “Flag of Azerbaijan” order (1997). Binagadi-Khirdalan highway turn 8 was named after martyr Firdovsi Valiyev. On February 26, 2020, a Memorial Plaque was hung at the entrance of that street to perpetuate the memory of martyr Firdovsi Valiyev.
