Professor Adalat Muradov, rector of UNEC, congratulated the participants on the occasion of Independence Day and gave a brief overview of this event. He said that the country’s independence begins with every citizen and his independence. The Azerbaijani people, who have gained independence twice in a century, are happy because they are citizens of a free and independent state.
The rector who said that maintaining the independence of the country wa s more difficult than gaining it , noted that the state independence laid by the great leader was further strengthened by his devoted successor Mr. President Ilham Aliyev. He said that the first Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva is the closest and most trusted companion-in-arms of President Ilham Aliyev in the success of Heydar Aliyev’s policy pursued for the development and growth of Azerbaijan.
Rector drew their attention to the strong reply of the president of Republic of Azerbaijan to Armenian Prime Minister at plenary session of the meeting of “Valday” International Discussion Club in Sochi. He noted that the head of state once again drew attention of the world community to the fact that Karabakh is a historic Azerbaijani land with the statement “Karabakh is Azerbaijan and a sign of exclamation”. Adalat Muradov expressed his confidence that Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied lands would be liberated soon, and our territorial integrity and independence would be fully restored.
Speaking at the event, the chairman of the board of the Center for Social Research (CSR) of Azerbaijan MP Zahid Oruj said that freedom and independence are the embodiment of goodness and kindness for every citizen, nation. Noting that independence begins at school, the MP said the quality of the nation was measured by education. Z. Oruj stressed that to further strengthen the independence and secure the future of the country, higher education institutions aiming to serve the people meet the state’s ambitions and stressed that there is always a need for youth who are educated, capable and love their nation.
UNEC professor Abbas Seyidov spoke about Azerbaijan’s struggle for freedom for the sake of restoration of statehood and independence. He spoke about the invaluable role of the national leader Heydar Aliyev in strengthening our independent statehood, making bold decisions, establishing a unitary, legal, democratic and secular Azerbaijan state.
At the event, members of Vocal circle of the UNEC Creative Center sang the national anthem of Azerbaijan. Students of the faculty of Economics recited poems on patriotism .
