The Graduation Day held at UNEC
The Graduation Day of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) has been celebrated solemnly.
The state officials, members of the Parliament, Heads of higher education institutions, representatives of private organizations, honorary alumni of UNEC, parents and other guests participated in the event held at the sports- concert complex named after Heydar Aliyev.
The event started with the national anthem. The courage and heroism of Azerbaijan Armed Forces within the April battles to prevent Armenian provocations were spoken about. It was said that 2 UNEC alumni were also killed during these fights. The martyrs’ memory who sacrificed their lives for the protection of our lands was commemorated with a minute of silence.
A video dedicated to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s and President Ilham Aliyev’s meetings with UNEC academic staff was demonstrated. Later, other videos reflecting different fields of the university life were demonstrated.
UNEC’s honorary alumni, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population Salim Muslimov spoke about his student hood and expressed satisfaction of meeting with his instructors. The Minister highly appreciated the innovations took place at UNEC: “Our country constantly needs educated and skilled young people. UNEC is developing highly skilled cadres I am confident that UNEC alumni will have a decent place for themselves in the labor market”.
Chairman of UNEC Elders’ Board, Professor Ali Hasanov, parents and other guests congratulated the graduates and wished them success in their future lives.
Making a final speech, UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov expressed his gratitude to the guests who gathered in a special day of graduates. Rector spoke about the government’s care to education and President Ilham Aliyev’s attention to the University of Economics: “The main task set towards us is to make the University of Economics a world- class university. Our goal is to fulfill this task with honor.
Congratulating all the students who become “Graduate”, Rector gave them his recommendations: “The road leading to success means to search constantly, to work and develop. The Great Leader Heydar Aliyev always said “Education is the future of the nation. This future is in your hands. The road to bigger goals namely starts today. Try to keep the state’s interests above your own preferences. I wish you all success on this path”
UNEC’s alumni with the highest score Sevinj Aliyeva was introduced a gift during the event. Azerbaijan’s national flag was brought to the stage and the alumni solemnly sworn an oath. The traditional “hat throwing” ceremony was undertaken by the graduates. The event was followed by the artistic program after the fireworks.
Note: 5730 undergraduates and graduates are graduating from UNEC in 2015/2016 academic year. 4027 of them are Bachelors and 1703 are Masters. 70 of the graduates are foreigners.
