An event dedicated to Victory Day has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC).
In addition to the UNEC team, the families of martyrs, veterans, soldiers, members of Exemplary Orchestra of the Defence Ministry, people’s artist Nuraddin Mehdikhanli and other guests took part in the event.
The participants of the event first laid flowers in front of the Memorial-Commemorative Complex erected in memory of the martyred graduates and students of UNEC.
The event, where the national flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey were waved, began with a minute’s silence in honor of the dear memory of the martyrs and the playing of the National Anthem.
The presenter of the event, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Nuraddin Mehdikhanli spoke about Azerbaijan’s war for justice, which began on September 27 and ended with a brilliant victory on November 8. He drew attention to the fact that the people of Azerbaijan united closely around the victorious Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and demonstrated their strength, determination and struggle to the whole world.
The rector of UNEC, Professor Adalat Muradov congratulated the participants on the occasion of the Victory Day and called the brilliant victory a golden page of our glorious history. He said that the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the return of our eternal lands are the eternal heroes not only of the Azerbaijani people, but of the entire Turkic world. The rector said that the great leader Heydar Aliyev’s strategy, the strong will of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the independent and well-thought-out policy, and the unity of the state-people-army are the foundation of the glorious victory.
Emphasizing that a new stage has begun in Azerbaijan today, Adalat Muradov pointed out that rapid construction and restoration works are being carried out in the direction of the revival of our territories freed from occupation.
Then UNEC student, Hero of the Patriotic War, Gazanfar Agayev, captain of the Special Forces, Shamkhal Agayev, recipient of Karabakh Order, made a speech and talked about the battle path they went through in the Patriotic War. They appreciated the bravery and heroism of the brave sons of Azerbaijan in the Patriotic War as an expression of infinite love for the Motherland.
The event dedicated to the Victory Day continued with a concert program dedicated to patriotism by the Exemplary orchestra the Ministry of Defence under the artistic head of the honored artist, Colonel Rufat Akhundzade.
Within the framework of the event, the artworks dedicated to the Victory Day by the students of the UNEC Design School were exhibited.
