UNEC is ready for the new Academic Year
A meeting on the state of preparatory work for 2016/2017 has been held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). State of preparedness, problems encountered, ways to solve them and affairs to be done were discussed within the meeting attended by the heads of the structural units.
Firstly, UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov has spoken about the state of material and technical provision. He said an “Electronic University” model, the first step in terms of improving the quality of education, has already been installed in all academic buildings. The main task ahead is to form the ability of using these opportunities efficiently. All the academic staff members have been trained to master this innovation and any of them can be involved to additional training. Rector instructed the Deans to be careful to students’ and teaching staff’s requests and to increase their responsibility in this case. He said that the Deans were assigned to make a decision listening to the request. Every student has the right of meeting with the Rector. But it should be the last destination. A.Muradov drew to attention the need for establishing new units in the faculties to build close relations with the students and expected real steps in connection recently.
A.Muradov spoke about the building where School of Commodity Research have been moved temporarily and noted that all necessary conditions to ensure the quality education have been created there. He added that the old building of the faculty will be presented to students in two years being reconstructed with modern standards.
Rector also expressed his attitude for the number of student admission to UNEC this year. He pointed that a serious growth in the number of students with highest points who chose our university was recorded in 2016/2017 academic year. Although the result makes us happy, it further increases our responsibility. A.Muradov emphasized the importance of increasing the quality of education for the maintenance of this figure. Rector expressed his remarks concerning the attendance of the teaching staff and said that the control of attendance will be strengthened in a new academic year. A.Muradov gave his instructions to Deans in connection with increasing the attention for these matters.
Rector pointed that the requirements for the teaching staff’s assessment in 2016/2017 academic year will be increased. The ranking system is already ready. The established commission has totaled its work successfully. Broad presentation of the new system will be made together with the public representatives.
Rector delivered detailed information about the projects “leader instructor- leader student”, “The quality of teaching by the students” which will make the academic year memorable and drew to attention that the parents have the right to attend the classes. Rector said the serious changes in graduate level of education will be made and the control of the sector will be strengthened; the activities of newly established International Master and Doctoral Studies will be expanded.
A.Muradov drew to attention the affairs to be done in a new academic year. He said that the structural changes will go on, the quality of tests will be increased, the content of the Faculty Academic Boards’ will be reformed, all the teaching staff will present open classes, tours to secondary schools of our capital and regions will go on, dual- diploma programs will be launched at the regional universities and new guidelines concerning the tutors’ work will be developed. Foreign Professors will be invited to UNEC. Rector highlighted that the quality of textbooks should be improved; the Translation Center will be established at the University to provide the interpretation of them in the highest level.
A.Muradov said the above mentioned innovations will serve the improvement of the quality of education at UNEC. The heads of the structural units made their proposals in the end.
