UNEC Experience of the transition to Research University
UNEC’s academic staff visited the Azerbaijan University of Technology (AUT).
The delegation participated in the international conference on “Protection of Biodiversity and Cultural Heritage in terms of Urban Industrialization” devoted to the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birthday.
The delegation represented by the Head of UNEC’s Science Department, Professor Zahid Mammadov, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management, Assistant Professor Miragha Ahmadov, Head of the Department of “Accounting and Audit”, Professor Sifariz Sabzaliyev, Head of the Department of “Standardization and Certification”, Assistant Professor Zabit Aslanov, Deputy Director of the Distance, Part-time and Secondary Education Center, Assistant Professor Tarana Kerimova made speeches within the plenary sessions of the conference.
Professor Z.Mammadov’s report on “Transition to Research University: UNEC Experience” was of great interest by the participants. The Professor spoke about the successful steps taken in the direction of converting UNEC into the scientific research-oriented university. He said the University of Economics regularly implements new projects in accordance with the “State Strategy on the Development of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. UNEC, which become the region’s center of debate capable of hosting international conferences to gather the Nobel laureates, scientists and economists. UNEC Professors’ scientific publications are published on the prestigious international information agencies “Thomson Reuters”. Fundamental mega- faculties operate at the university.
The delegation got acquainted with the curriculum of the departments on their majors within the conference, made proposals and recommendations. AUT was introduced textbooks written by the academic staff of UNEC on the separate areas of the economy.
