Welcome to the Center for Mental Health Services at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). Our center was established on September 20th, 2022 by the decision of UNEC Scientific Council with a purpose of prioritizing the mental well-being and psychological health of the UNEC community. We understand that a thriving academic environment is not only built on knowledge and achievements but also on the emotional resilience and psychological well-being of our students, faculty, and staff.

Our Mission:

The mission of the Center for Mental Health Services is to provide accessible and comprehensive mental health support to all members of the UNEC community. We are committed to creating a campus culture that fosters emotional well-being, resilience, and personal growth. 

What We Do:

Counseling Services: We offer confidential and compassionate counseling services to address a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. Our licensed counselors are here to listen, support, and help individuals navigate through difficult times, providing coping strategies and guidance for personal development.

Mental Health Awareness: We actively work to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote a stigma-free environment. Through workshops, seminars, and campaigns, we strive to foster a deeper understanding of mental health and its importance in overall well-being. 

Crisis Intervention: The center provides timely and effective crisis intervention for individuals facing acute emotional distress or psychological crises. Our team is trained to respond promptly and with sensitivity to ensure the safety and well-being of those in need.

Educational Programs: We conduct educational programs that focus on stress management, resilience building, and enhancing emotional intelligence. These programs empower individuals to develop skills that positively impact their mental health and overall quality of life.

Confidentiality:

Confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. We respect the privacy and confidentiality of every individual who seeks support at our center. All interactions with our counselors are held in strict confidence, adhering to professional ethical guidelines and legal regulations.

REGULATION

General Provisions

1.1. The Center for Mental Health Services of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) (hereinafter referred to as the Center) defines the Center’s activities, duties, rights and rules of organization of its activities within the framework of the powers granted by this statute.

1.2. The centre will work to increase the academic achievements of UNEC students, create a safe and healthy environment in the university, and support the moral and psychological health of employees and students.

1.3. In its activities, the centre follows the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the application of the Law No. 1385-VQ of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 7, 2018 “On Psychological Assistance”, and the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on approval of the “Rules for the Organization of Psychological Services in Educational Institutions” 2020 157 dated April 30, 2018, UNEC’s Regulation and this Charter.

1.4. The Centre   provides free, confidential and voluntary preliminary examination and diagnosis to applicants (students and employees of UNEC) and subsequent consultation (support) (psychological, psych pedagogical) process in accordance with the initial examination and diagnosis.

  1. Activities of the centre

2.1. The main activities of the centre are as follows:

2.1.1. Conduct preliminary examination (check-up) of persons applying to the center through psych diagnostic and projective tests;

2.1.2. To offer a psychological counselling (support) program to the applicant according to the results obtained after the initial psychological examination (checking);

2.1.3. Organization of psychological counselling (support) programs in individual and group form;

2.1.4. Conducting re-examinations and evaluating the results after the end of the psychological counselling program offered to the applicant.

  1. Duties of the center

3.1. According to the directions of activity determined by this Regulation, the tasks of the Center are as follows:

3.1.1. To implement and control the organization of psychological services in the center;

3.1.2. Conduct a comprehensive initial psychological examination (checkup) of applicants and provide detailed information to the applicant about the period and program of further psychological support;

3.1.3. Re-examine the applicant during and after the psychological counseling program and evaluate the result;

3.1.4. To make proposals to the management regarding the organization of certification and self-improvement programs of specialists working in the centre;

3.1.5. Prepare a report and make proposals to the management regarding the activity of the centre;

3.1.6. Conducting work in the field of promoting psychological knowledge through lectures, interviews and speeches, organizing meetings and conversations with psychologists known domestically and internationally, in scientific and scientific-mass magazines, newspapers, etc. come up with articles summarizing work experience;

  1. Rights of the Center

4.1. The Center has the following rights to perform its duties:

4.1.1. Organization of the necessary conditions and environment for the implementation of psychological service work;

4.1.2. Create conditions for the Center’s specialists to regularly participate in improvement courses, domestic and foreign conferences, symposiums, and trainings;

4.1.3. To make a report to the management about accepting new employees to the center or dismissing employees from their positions;

4.1.4. Conducting work in the field of promotion of psychological knowledge through lectures, interviews and speeches, organizing meetings with psychologists known domestically and internationally in scientific and scientific-mass magazines, newspapers, etc. to come up with articles summarizing work experience;

  1. Organization of the activity of the centre

5.1. The organization of the centre’s activities is carried out by the head appointed by the order of the rector of UNEC.

  1. Establishment and cancellation of the centre

6.1. The centre is created and abolished based on the decision of the Scientific Council of UNEC and the order of the rector.
