The next meeting of the Scientific Council was held at UNEC
The UNEC rector, professor Adalat Muradov said that, the “UNEC-100” Development Strategy was completed by the relevant commission and the working group on the preparation for the 100-th anniversary of the University. The rector noted that, the university was targeting to become one of the 500 best universities in the world by the 100th anniversary of the UNEC, which had been included into the list of the 181-190 best universities in the rating agency of “QS University Rankings: Emerging European and the Central Asian” regions. A. Muradov underlined that, the strategy included the goals and targets set forth before the university during preparation for the UNEC jubilee.
The counselor of the UNEC Rector, the Associate Professor Elshan Baghirzadeh made the presentation with regard to the “UNEC-100” Development Strategy and outlined the main provisions of the strategy. He said that, 7 strategic goals and 31 strategic targets had been identified in the document reflecting the mission, the future vision and values of UNEC.
It was decided to prepare a plan of action for the implementation of the tasks arising from the strategy and create the expert commission.
The important aspect of UNEC’s international cooperation – the guidelines for the academic mobility of academic-teaching staff, employees and students were also highlighted in the council. The new rules were approved by voting of the members of the council.
The pro-rector on Science and Innovations, the professor Sakit Yagubov spoke about improving the activities of the UNEC libraries. The Council made the decision to abolish the base library and create the UNEC Library Information Center on its basis. At the same time, the new structure of the Library Information Center was approved. In addition, there was made the proposal to involve students along with the employees to the 24/7 library management, as well.
In the council, the associate professor Oruj Mammadov, the director of the Financial and Economics College under UNEC, made the report on the activity of the college. O.Mammadov noted that, the professional trainings of specialists in five specialties were conducted in the form of on-campus education and correspondence courses form and according to the initiative of the management of the UNEC the admission plan for the college had been increased by 30 percent in the last two years and 96.3% of the admission plan to the 2018/2019 academic year had been implemented. O. Mammadov made the suggestions to further improve the quality of teaching at the college. The members of the council welcomed the organization of the pedagogical internship at UNEC, for the students of the master’s degree level of study of UNEC.
In the council the composition of the Scientific Council of Zagatala branch was approved. At the same time, the decision to reduce the tuition fee from 25% to 10% in the branch was made by the majority of votes.
The members of the Scientific Council approved the establishment of the Center for Economist Patriots, the UNEC Center for Empirical Research, the Center for Support to Foreign Trade, Meybullayev Islamic Economics Center and the provisions of the Protocol section, as well as the establishment and provisions for the Monitoring Center of Labor Market, as well as the establishment of the Center for Energy Economics. The name of the Faculty of Turkish World Business Administration was renamed to the Faculty of Turkish World Economics.
At the Scientific Council, by the order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, a group of UNEC employees were awarded with the “Leading Education Worker” distinctive badge and the “Honorary Certificate” of the Ministry on the occasion of International Teacher Day on October 5.
And, Aida Guliyeva, the head of the UNEC Center for SABAH, was awarded with the “Letter of Acknowledgement” of the Ministry of Education for «The high level of management and organizational skills presented within the 2017/2018 academic year, as well as for her activity and initiativity in the work”.
At the end of the meeting, was held the voting with regard to giving the professor and associate professor scientific degrees to the teachers of UNEC.
