The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and commemorating the memory of the genocide victims with a minute of silence.
The director of the Department of Organization of Teaching of General subjects, associate professor Gulnara Rzayeva, opened the event and said that the massacre committed by Armenian armed groups against Azerbaijanis was written in bloody letters in the history of our nation. She drew attention to the fact that Armenian occupants are taking insidious steps against our homeland and people. She said that with the Decree “On Genocide of Azerbaijanis” signed by national leader Heydar Aliyev on March 26, 1998, this massacre was given a political assessment at the state level for the first time, and that this political course was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.
At the event, Abbas Seyidov, General Director of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography, and Anthropology of ANAS gave a speech on “Genocide of Turks in Anatolia”, Farhad Jabbarov, Deputy Director of Azerbaijan History Museum of ANAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, on “March Genocide in Baku”, Ilgar Niftaliyev, executive director of A.A. Bakikhanov Institute of History of ANAS, doctor of historical sciences, made a speech on “March genocide against the Turkish-Muslim population is a crime against humanity”, Professor Vakil Hasanov, head of the Department of Humanities, gave a speech on the topic “Genocides against Azerbaijanis on the other side of Araz”. They talked about the mass massacres committed by Armenians against our compatriots in the regions of Azerbaijan in 1918, the towns, villages, mosques, and schools they destroyed.
At the end of the speeches, a video was shown prepared by the Department of Organization of Teaching General Subjects for March 31 – Genocide Day, based on documentary photos.
The participants of the event got acquainted with the art exhibition dedicated to the victims of the March 31 Genocide by the students of the UNEC Design School.
