Journalists have monitored exams- in- progress

A group of journalists have controlled the progress of the winter exam session held at Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC). “Report” informs that more than 20 journalists have taken part in the event held under the motto “Knowledge should be assessed transparently and objective”.

The Director of the Center for the Assessment and Management of the Quality of Education Ragif Gasimov got the journalists familiar with the process of exam and instruction of control. According to him, students were provided with generally 700 questions and their answers in advance: “After the students answer all questions they push on the button “finish” and become familiar with the result of the exam immediately. Students’ results and answers are recorded in their personal cabinet after the exam finishes. This way, even parents are able to follow their children’s exam results. It creates the foundation for a transparent exam”.

He added that exams are held in all academic buildings of the university in 5 shifts. “Minimum 150 students take exam in each shift. Students are provided with 1hour and 20 min. on humanitarian subjects, but on mathematics and econometrics 2 hours. Because these subjects require calculations and they need extra time”.

Delivering the information about the written exams held in Master Center, MBA and SABAH Groups R.Gasimov added that the students are provided with 75 exam questions in advance and answer 7 of them.

Head of the Center mentioned that 34 instructors were appointed to monitor the session: “Representative of the “tutor” service, laboratory assistants and the representative of the training and methodological staff are included here. It means that the teaching staff does not control the exams.

Afterwards the journalists have monitored the exams held in all academic buildings.

After the exams journalists met with UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov. Rector spoke about the reforms carried out, targets of the university and problems encountered in the process of work; he responded the journalists’ questions.

Winter exam session at UNEC will last till February 1.

It should be noted that, the kind of meetings are realized in accordance with the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov’s order about the “Organization and Implementation of the Exam session”.
