ASUE holds the Commemoration Ceremony for the 25th Anniversary of the Tragedy of January 20
The commemorative event related with the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of January 20 was held at the II training building of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics on January 15.
The January 20 martyrs’ memory was honored with a moment of silence before the meeting began. Chairman of the territorial organization of the ASUE NAP Zafar Bayramov pointed that Tragedy of January 20 was the pre-planned massacre against our people’s desire of independence clarifying the political status of our region and country during the incident. Z.Bayramov has also stressed that the first political assessment to the event was given by our Great Leader Heydar Aliyev who had immediately demanded the objective investigation and juridical assessment of the event from Moscow.
Afterwards, Head of the Department “History”, Professor Hidayat Jafarov made a speech about the Tragedy of January 20 and its political nature. The Professor noted that the event had not weakened our nation’s struggle for freedom; on the contrary it had stepped up.
The other speakers of the event have shared their views on the Tragedy of January 20.
At the end of the meeting a documentary film was demonstrated to the participants.
