The purpose of the contest, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Kapital Bank OJSC and UNEC, is to support the application of the Decree of the president of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev on January 18, 2016, “On Additional Measures to Promote the Export of Non-Oil Products” at the level of higher education institutions and promote entrepreneurship among students.
40 projects from different universities of the republic were presented to the business idea contest “Made in Azerbaijan 2019”. While preparing business ideas, their compliance with the assignment and competition mission, product and service innovation, technological innovation, reality of the project implementation in the domestic market, market and competitive capabilities, business model were taken into account. Expert Council evaluated the business ideas and 5 projects passed into the final stage.
It should be noted that the authors of the project ideas of “ViewGo”, “Oyunjaqchi”, “Kitabli”, “One click-One hand” and “Bio Bone”, winning the final are the students of UNEC, Baku State University, Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, Ganja State University and Khazar University.
Within the contest, extensive trainings were held on the preparation of the students for the competition, the projects’ improvement and mentoring support within 3 days and with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
Following the presentation of the teams on the final day, the jury assessed the business ideas in terms of the possibility of applying , the prospect of branding the product or service, investing attractiveness, presentation, answering questions, and original and creative approach.
By the decision of the jury, “Kitabli” business idea was a winner. The goal of the project is to collect electronic materials in a single portal, to have an explanatory video base on certain subjects, and to provide explanations by the teachers of the tests that the students have difficulty in.
The second place was taken by “ViewGo”, and the third place was taken by the “Oyunjaqchi” business idea.
The winners were awarded by Kapital Bank OJSC, the sponsor of the contest. As the winner of the first place in the competition was awarded 2000 AZN, of the second place 1500 AZN and the third place 1000 AZN. The winning teams were also presented valuable gifts by the Ministry of Youth and Sport.
