The international scientific-practical conference on the topic “The Sustainable Development: Challenges and Propectives” was held at UNEC.

The conference organized jointly by the Ministry of Education and UNEC was dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The rector of UNEC, professor Adalat Muradov said that SABAH groups was the model implemented successful human capital formation in the higher education system of Azerbaijan. Noting the importance of dedicating the conference to 100-th anniversary of ADR, the rector emphasized that, all the spheres of the republican period were widely studied within the governance of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev.  A.Muradov drew to the attention that the Decree on celebrating the 100-th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic signed by the President Ilham Aliyev gave the special impetus to these processes.

The rector stated that, the sustainable economic development was the most discussed issue among economists, and spoke about the problems caused by the world GDP growth in the liberal market economy and explained the ways of solution. The rector, pointed out that the lack of the single indicator defining the sustainable development was one of the most important tasks facing by economists, and spoke about the Goals of  the UN for the Sustainable Development. Refering to the estimations of the UN, the rector stressed the existence of financial deficiences in sustainable development, and emphasized the the necessity of creating the favorable environment for private investment in solving the problem, and as well as, the  need for the sustainable development proposals for investors.

The Deputy Minister of Education Firudin Gurbanov spoke about the importance of celebrating the 100-th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic at the state level. Pointing out that the country’s sustainable socioeconomic development was one of the priorities of the state, F.Gurbanov spoke about the success achieved in this area and noted that the sustainable development in Azerbaijan was being ensured by many indicators. He noted that, human capital played the important role in ensuring the sustainable development. F.Gurbanov underlind the necessity of creation of new education models and stated that the goals set before the State Strategy for the Development of Education reflected in the activities of the SABAH groups.

The head of the SABAH  Executive Committee, Shahin Seyidzadeh spoke about the success of the SABAH students of UNEC. Noting that, 56 percent of the first graduates of  SABAH groups of  UNEC undertook  the master’s degree at local and foreign universities, Seyidov stressed that this was the high indicator. He noted that, the UNEC students actively participated in international programs, business projects and intellectual competitions.

In the conference, the young teachers of  SABAH groups of UNEC Agil Azizov and Ganira Ibrahimova delivered the speech on the topic “SDG in Azerbaijan”, and the IV year student Ilkin Rustamzadeh made the speech on the topic “İmpact of institutions on economic behaviour”.

The conference continued its work at the plenary sessions.
