Within the framework of cooperation between UNEC and BP, the Forum “Supporting the development of science: innovative ideas and perspectives” has been held.
Before the event, the participants of the forum organized by the UNEC Scientific Research Centre for Composite Materials got acquainted with the activities of the Food Safety, Food Chemistry, Ecological Chemistry laboratories named after Aziz Sancar which were established at UNEC with the financial support of BP and the Scientific Research Center for Composite Materials. They highly appreciated the activities of laboratories intended for teaching.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Rector Professor Adalat Muradov spoke about the projects implemented within the framework of cooperation between UNEC and BP. He thanked Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, vice president for communication and external relations in the Caspian region, for his support to UNEC.
The rector said that 39 research centers operate at UNEC and 113 foreign researchers conduct research in those centers. Talking about the grant projects awarded to the university by the Scientific Research Center for Composite Materials, the rector pointed out that one-third of the scientific articles published in the Scopus database of UNEC belong to that center.
Bakhtiyar Aslanbeyli, the vice president for communications and external relations in the Caspian region of bp, expressed confidence that the successfully completed project will create opportunities for UNEC to join international scientific initiatives and cooperate with the world’s leading scientific institutions as a reputable and experienced source. It will also make an important contribution to improving the quality of education and expanding research potential.
Then the head of the UNEC Scientific-Research Center for Composite Materials, professor Rovnag Rzayev, made a presentation about the activities of the center, implemented projects and goals. He said that the project, which includes several components, aims to support university professors and researchers to achieve greater success in their scientific activities by coming together with the world’s leading research centers. R. Rzayev pointed out that the fully automatic Drawell DTR8000 Raman spectrometer device donated to the center by bp provides an opportunity to conduct research in medical analysis, agricultural and food technologies, water pollution analysis and other leading disciplines.
Academicians Arif Hashimov and Adil Garibov, who participated in the forum, highly appreciated the projects implemented by UNEC in the direction of increasing scientific activity, as well as the conditions created at the university. They talked about the importance of innovative ideas in terms of the development of science.
