The 2^nd Republic-wide Competition “Language- the Road to a Career” was held among the students of higher education institutions at the State Marine Academy of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company informed AZERTAC that students from 12 state- owned higher schools participated in the competition organized with support of the Ministry of Education and Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company.

During the competition Rector of the Marine Academy Chingiz Aliyev spoke about the significance of the documents recently signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev related with the youth policy. He said students requiring to study at any prestigious higher institution of world and wishing to build their careers should increase their attention to learning foreign languages.

If the students of 4 universities participated in the competition held last year, this year students from 12 higher schools have joined the contest.

Beside the Marine Academy they are Baku State University, the State Academy of Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the University of Oil and Industry, Technical University, University of Economics, Baku Slavic University, the University of Culture and Art, the Eurasian Academy, the University of Architecture and Construction, State Agrarian University and Sumgait State University.

A video about the history of Marine Academy was demonstrated during the ceremony; jury consisting of the representatives of different higher schools was introduced to participants. After the conditions of the contest were delivered to participants students reports were heard. Each student has an opportunity to present the topic selected using audio- visual facilities within 4 minutes. Students demonstrated the importance of the language factor on the road to a career once more making a speech in the foreign language.

The results of the 2^nd Republic- wide Competition “Language- the Road to A Career” were announced.

1^st place- Faig Khasayev- student of Azerbaijan State University of Economics; the winner was awarded a 1^st grade-diploma and a notebook.

2^nd place- Kamran Latifov- student of the Azerbaijan State Marine Academy; the winner was awarded a 2^nd grade-diploma and a tab.

3^rd place- Saida Mustafazade- student of Azerbaijan State University of Economics; the winner was awarded a 3^rd grade- diploma and a mobile phone.
