Deputy Chairman of the State Statistics Committee reported the Results of 2014 to the Academic Staff of ASUE
Event on the results of the socio-economic development of 2014 was held at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics on January 27.
The Deputy Chairman of the State Statistics Committee Rauf Salimov reported on the economic and social results of the country in 2014. He noted that within the last 11 years there was 11.5 percent increase in economy. According to the official information delivered by the International Monetary Fund it is the highest indicator among the world countries. According to him, 10 percent of positive dynamics of the non-oil sector has been registered within the period.
While noting that there has been a decline of 0.7 percent in the industrial sector, R.Salimov emphasized 6.9 percent of growth of non-oil sector. Taking into account the processes happening in the world economy and the financial market, this is the successful determinant. A favorable investment climate created by the Head of the Country has increased the volume of capital spent to our economy. 21.8 billions of manats were invested to our country within the last year, 58.5 of which is due to the domestic sources. The volume of the foreign investment of Azerbaijan has increased in 2014.
127 thousand of new workplaces were created in 2014. It has led to a decline in the levels of unemployment and poverty in the country. Thus, the level of unemployment was reduced 0.1 percent to 4.9, the level of poverty 0.3 to 5.0 percent.
The volume of bank deposits by the population has increased by a record level-12.4 percent, reached to 7.2 billion manats to the January 1 2015. Only manat among the national currencies of CIS maintained its rate in 2014. The last year’s earnings have increased to 4.8 percent. The average monthly salary of 443 manats, the average amount of monthly pensions is 173.4 manats.
Rector of ASUE, Professor Adalat Muradov noted in his speech that the economic and social results of the last year bases to say that, despite of the critical processes happen in the world economy and financial markets, the country’s economy has developed and the opportunities to involve foreign and domestic investments have been created. Rector highlighted that the academic staff of ASUE should inform the foreign investors about the conditions created in Azerbaijan economy and priorities of rivalry being on business abroad and publishing articles in foreign journals.
