Results of the Winter Exam Session of UNEC have been revealed to society on February 28.
Education experts, parents, representatives of NGO and Media who observed the process joined the meeting on “Monitoring and expectations of Observers” which is held at UNEC in accordance with the actions plan implemented to provide the objectivity and transparency in during the winter exam session of 2016/2017 academic year.
UNEC Rector, Professor Adalat Muradov expressed gratitude to public representatives for support in the realization of the winter exam session objectively and transparently. Rector said a series of innovations were implemented within the winter exam session. Thus, exams of SABAH Center and the International School of Economics were managed in a centralized manner. The indicator of students’ comprehension was high in both faculties. In addition, the administration of exams and appeals were transferred to faculties for the first time. Exams of the Zagatala Branch and the Financial and Economic College were conducted on the basis of the rules applied at UNEC for the first time.
5491 students submitted appeals within the session. The number of the students who complete the session with academic debts decrease twice. Speaking about the addition of 1 point to the students’ results, Rector said this year additions would not be given, in accordance with the amendments made to scholarship system. It will lead to the violation of the principle of equality. The issue of repeat exams for the IV year students will be considered, after the list of scholarship is determined.
Rector offered public representatives who attended the exams and “Open Door” days to share their impressions. He said that he is always ready to listen recommendations about the fields, they think, need improvement in the process of education as a result of monitoring.
Distinguished person of science, Professor Shahlar Asgerov highlighted the transparency and objectivity is the main paradigm in the assessment of the students’ knowledge. Noting UNEC’s leadership in the field, Professor called university rectors the “Knights of Education”.
Deputy Director General of the Information Agency “Trend” Arzu Naghiyev evaluates world universities for their alumni and international affairs. He said we read news about UNEC alumni’s achievements and its international relations recently. It means that myths about “narkhoz” have already been destroyed.
“Head of the Public Union Education Center “XX Century” Etibar Aliyev revealed the results of the anonymous survey conducted among the students within the session. He said the survey held among 400 students consisted of 8 questions the 5 of which were open. Respondents’ opinion about the exam session, teaching process, quality of questions, teacher satisfaction and so on. were studied. The results give the ground to say that students evaluate the innovations applied at UNEC highly.
Editor- in- chief of the newspaper “Azerbaijan Teacher” Bayram Huseynzade said the universities are leading force of society: “To this end, I appreciate highly the example of UNEC which form positive image with the reforms realized. As a journalist monitoring the processes twice, I can say with confidence that UNEC trusted the process of exam directly to society. It is very commendable”.
Head of Constitution Research Foundation, member of the Joint Group on Human Rights Alimammad Nuriyev proposed to organize a conference on the reforms in higher education. He said UNEC ‘s Differential Salary System, methods to fight with negative cases during the exams and other successful novelties should be distributed to other universities as a positive experience. A.Nuriyev also suggested conduct researches on the reforms implemented at UNEC.
Making speeches, parents noted that the satisfied student is an objective criterion. They expressed satisfaction of their children’s exams and trainings.
The public representatives were introduced certificates and gifts for their assistance to UNEC. The Center for the Assessment of the Quality and Management of Teaching was awarded certificate for the objective administration of the winter exam session and the Marketing and Communication Department for the provision of information and awareness of society.
